COMMITMENT AGAINST MODERN-DAY SLAVERY
Modern-day slavery is a global problem that affects millions of people around the world. It takes many forms, such as forced labour, human trafficking, debt bondage, child marriage, and domestic servitude.
GSI is committed to fighting against modern day slavery in all its operations and supply chains.
What is Modern-day Slavery?
Modern-day slavery is a serious global issue and a breach of fundamental human and labour rights. It includes forced labour, debt bondage, forced marriage, slavery, and human trafficking. According to the International Labour Organisation (ILO), an estimated 40.3 million people worldwide are subject to modern-day slavery, including 25 million people in forced labour.
In Australia, the Modern Slavery Act 2018 requires companies earning more than $A100 million ($NZ107m) to publish “modern slavery statements” setting out what they’re doing to address forced labour risks. This law also applies to New Zealand companies that trade in Australia. The statements must cover seven mandatory criteria, such as the entity's structure, operations and supply chains; the risks of modern slavery practices in those areas; the actions taken to assess and address those risks; and how the entity assesses the effectiveness of those actions.
Our Commitment
We believe that modern-day slavery is unacceptable and incompatible with our values and vision. We are proud to be part of the global effort to eradicate this scourge from our world.
GSI is committed to complying with the existing and proposed laws on modern slavery. We are also committed to ensuring that our business practices and supply chains are free from any form of exploitation or abuse. We have developed a comprehensive policy on modern day slavery that outlines our principles, procedures and reporting mechanisms. We have also conducted a risk assessment of our operations and supply chains, and implemented measures to mitigate any potential risks. We monitor and review our performance regularly, and report on our progress annually.
Our Commitment
At GSI, we are more than just a team of professionals. We are a group of passionate individuals who share a common vision: to make a positive impact on our communities through our work.
We believe that our purpose is not only to deliver high-quality services to our clients, but also to contribute to the well-being of our staff, our community and the environment.
